LA: Her pregnancy was only confirmed last month but Girls star Jemima Kirke is already sporting quite the baby bump. The 27-year-old actress already has a 21-month-old daughter Rafaella with her lawyer husband Michael Mosberg and if this picture is any indication, it won’t be long before the latest addition to their family arrives.
Jemima’s co-star and Girls creator Leah Dunhan shared an Instagram photo of her pregnant pal happily showing off her bare belly. She also added a picture of Kirke holding up the book Chocolates for breakfast by Pamela Moore while Leah herself can clearly be seen in the mirror behind her taking the photograph.
She titled the snaps Chocolates for breakfast and Babies for lunch. The pair were hanging out together in Leah’s apartment and she admitted her friends wasn’t impressed by her interior decorating skills.
Leah tweeted a quote from Jemina, saying ‘It wouldn't be your home if there weren't a few disgusting things I absolutely hate in it. I'm actually happy about this awful rug’.
Jemima’s pregnancy confirmation was typically low-key as she merely responded ‘Thank you’ when congratulated by a reporter from the New York Daily News last month.
Girls is a comedy series created by Lena Dunham, Girls that follows the lives of a close group of twenty-somethings as they chart their lives in New York City. But Dunham says the show seeks to fill in the gaps before work and family life take a hold.
The show and main character were inspired by writer and actress Dunham's real-life experiences.
Jemima, who was born in London, started work on the show just six weeks after giving birth.
She said: 'Lena came to me two days before I gave birth—we were just lying on the bed, chatting and she'd like, "Will you be in my pilot?' I said, 'Are you kidding? I will have just had this baby and be 30 pounds overweight.'
'But I did it. She’s got a way with words.
'Rafaella was six weeks-old when I started filming the pilot [for Girls], so I brought her with me to set. Sometimes we would shoot from 6 a.m. to midnight, or 2 in the afternoon to 7 a.m."
Girls recently received a best comedy nod and an acting nomination for the 2012 Emmy Awards for its creator and star, Lena.
'Girls is HBO's current spin on Sex and the City, which was a strong Emmy favourite in the past,' according to Tom O'Neil, editor of the Gold Derby awards website.
In the show, her character is something of a free-spirit.
However, in real life Jemima admits she has to be somewhat more level-headed.She said: 'My responsibilities are of an older person because I have the baby and the marriage and those things.
'In a way I kind of miss that a little bit, so I have the luxury of being able to be that girl again for an allotted time.
'I get to drop the whole mom/wife thing and be this confused girl. I get to act that out and I get into it and then I think, 'Thank God I'm not there right now'", she told The Wall Street Journal.
Filming for the second season of the show dubbed the new 'Sex And The City' is already underway.
