Deepika Padukone wears a lungi in Chennai Express, thanks to SRK

Mumbai: When someone like Deepika Padukone dons a lungi and shows off her ample legs, it indeed looks sexy. The actress is seen in a lungi on the poster of Chennai Express, but thankfully it hasn’t started a trend.

Surprisingly, it’s not Deepika or her stylist, but Shah Rukh Khan who’s the brain behind her ‘lungi’ look. The actress has revealed that the superstar SRK and director Rohit Shetty came up with the idea to dress her like South Indian men.

Deepika Padukone recalls shooting for the first look along with Shahrukh Khan. “It was Shahrukh and Rohit who came up with it (idea of lungi). We had to quickly do a photoshoot because we were losing the light. They were like 'Why don't we give her this 'lungi' and make her look modern',” the actress is quoted as saying.

Deepika says that the shirt she is wearing in the poster also belongs to Shahrukh Khan. The actress is thrilled about teaming up with Shahrukh after Om Shanti Om (2007). Chennai Express is about a man’s travel from Mumbai to Rameswaram and what happens during the journey. The movie will release this year.

Till now, 2013 has been a good year for Deepika Padukone. She has Chennai Express and Kochadaiyaan up for release. She is working on two other films -- Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani with Ranbir Kapoor and Ram Leela with Ranveer Singh.
