Karunanidhi defends family's domination in Kollywood

Chennai: Chief Minister Karunanidhi defended his family members’ domination in film production, acting and distribution in Kollywood.

The audio of Rajinikanth’s Murattu Kalai remake which has Sundar C in the lead was held at Sathyam Cinemas on Saturday (September 18).

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was the chief guest as it is produced by his grand nephew Gunanidhi Amirtham. Actor Vikram received the first copy of the audio from the CM in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister MK Stalin (younger son of Karunanidhi)

Speaking at the function, Karunanidhi said : "I’m not ashamed of Gopalapuram (his residential area) turning into a tinsel town. Producing films is not an easy job and there is nothing wrong in my family members taking to film production as a profession.”

He was trying to defend himself against the opposition parties criticism that he and his family members were dominating Kollywood. 

Remember, Karunanithi has been writing for films for the past 65 years. His first film was Parasakthi in which legendary Sivajai Ganesan made his debut. After this he joined hands with 'Puratchi Thalaivar' MGR and dished out many super hit films. He has completed more than 75 films as a script writer, producer and lyricist and his last release was Pen Singam which is still running in Chennai theaters.

Please note that Karunanidhi's first grandson Udhayanidhi Stalin (son of M K Stalin) is a leading film producer in Tamil cinema. His second grand son (son of union minister M K Azhagiri) is also running a leading film production and distribution company called Cloud Nine.
One of Karunanidhi's sons M K Tamilarasu is producing films under the banner Mohana Movies and Vedha Pictures. His son (Third grandson of MK) Arul Nidhi has made his debut as an actor successfully through 'Vamsam' movie.

Now Kollywood sources say that Kanimozhi, Rajya Sabha MP and MK's daughter also planning to produce films with Kamal Hassan in the lead role.
