President congratulates Justice VR Krishna Iyer on his 100th birthday

New Delhi: The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has congratulated Shri Justice VR Krishna Iyer, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India on his 100th birthday.

In his message sent to Shri Justice VR Krishna Iyer, the President has said, “Permit me to extend my heartiest congratulations to you on your 100th birthday.

On this special occasion, I would like to acknowledge with gratitude the stellar contributions made by you to our nation and people as a distinguished jurist as well as public activist.  You have been instrumental in making justice more accessible to the poor and are widely admired for speaking out forcefully in support of the causes you deeply believe in.  

Your contribution to the development of human rights jurisprudence as a judge of the Supreme Court of India has been celebrated not only in India, but around the world and has inspired many generations of judges in the common law world and beyond.  I am confident you will continue to inspire the youth of our country to relentlessly pursue truth and justice.

I wish you good health as well as many more years in the company of family and friends”.
