LA: She plays the sweet small-town girl who ends up working in a strip club when she falls on hard times and Julianne Hough was clearly channelling both sides of her character at the Rock of Ages premiere tonight.
Although the black dress she wore at the movie’s European screening in London featured cute white puffball sleeves which added an air of innocence to the outfit, the daringly low V-neck showed off her sexy side.
The 23-year-old actress must have been using some special double sided tape to keep everything in place as she walked the red carpet in her low cut dress. She paired the dress with high-heeled, black peep-toe shoes.
A beehive hairstyle, held back with a thin black band completed the look.Based on the Broadway musical of the same name, Rock of Ages tells the tale of waitress and aspiring singer Sherrie Christian, played by Julianne, and a busboy who fall in love during the Eighties glam metal era.
Julianne’s character, a native of the US Midwest travels to LA in pursuit of her Hollywood dream to be a singer. When she takes her first steps on the Sunset Strip, she thinks she’s found paradise.
However, things don’t quite work out straight away and she spends time working in the ‘gentleman’s club’ and has a one-night stand with rocker Stacee Jaxx before finding true love.
Jaxx is played by Hollywood star Tom Cruise and Julianne – who is dating American Idol host Ryan Seacrest - admitted working with the heartthrob made her freak out.
She told flicksandbits, ‘The rock star in Tom came out, he is a rock star in this, it was incredible to just watch him. ‘Every time I see Pour Some Sugar On Me, I freak out like a little girl.
‘I actually am kind of a little girl, I have them butterflies, I’m thinking, “That is like the sexiest man I’ve ever seen in my life on stage singing Pour Some Sugar On Me”….it doesn’t get better than that!’
She also revealed that one scene even called for her to give Tom a lapdance.And despite the scene being cut from the version in theatres, Julianne admitted that particular day on set has been emblazoned in her memory.
Speaking on Live! With Kelly she said: 'It got caught because apparently mothers didn't like Sherrie Christian after that. It was a little too hot and steamy and sexy. It will be on the director's cut, though.'
She added: 'Let’s just say I’ll always have that in my back pocket, that I gave Tom Cruise a lap dance.'
