Tony Farmer gets 3 yrs in prison for kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend Andrea Lane

LA: Tony Farmer, a top college basketball recruit for the class of 2013, was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday for the kidnapping and assault of his ex-girlfriend, Andrea Lane.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound forward from Garfield Heights, Ohio, collapsed to the floor as the sentence was being read.

Farmer, who had received interest from several schools, pleaded guilty to four charges stemming from an April incident outside Lane's apartment complex and in the lobby. Parts of the incident were caught on videotape, including Farmer pulling Lane by her hair outside the building.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Pamela Barker said she would review the terms of the sentence after 180 days.

Farmer's lawyer, Joe Dubyak, said he expected his client would receive probation after his guilty plea. Farmer had earlier turned down a plea deal that lessened the charges, but would have meant between two and eight years in prison.

Lane spoke before the court on Farmer's behalf.
