New Delhi: With ever-increasing Pakistan-sponsored militant-activities and spokesperson of Pakistan government always spitting fire against India, it is a matter of utmost regret that a nationalist BJP-led Indian government has given a go-ahead for Indo-Pak cricket ties with even its political ally Shiv Sena being a mute spectator. If cricket-diplomacy is one-sided Indian effort to improve Indo-Pak relations, then why cricket-relations between the two countries were broken after infamous Pakistan-sponsored 26/11 militant attack on Mumbai?
Some of our leading politicians cutting across party-lines are involved in cricket-politics by being heavyweights in world’s super-most rich cricket-body Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). Allowing Indo-Pak cricket-ties on coffins of our brave Indian soldiers having martyred their lives against Pakistan-sponsored militancy will only benefit minting coins by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and BCCI.
We are proud of our Indian Hockey Federation which set up an example by asking Hockey India to stop participation of Pakistani players in Hockey India League in view of unprovoked firing and torture-killing of Indian soldiers by Pakistani army in January 2013. Could BCCI not exhibit same nationalist approach by making it a pre-condition to hand over master-minds of 26/11 Mumbai-attack and other notorious ones Dawood Ibrahim for starting Indo-Pak cricket ties?
Indian government should reverse its decision of allowing Indo-Pak cricket-ties.
