Stars, fashion gurus, politicos to attend Broadway debut

New Delhi: Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, fashion gurus like Gauri and Nanika Karan, Gaurav Gupta along with Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra will come together to catch the premiere of the "Beauty and the Beast" Broadway show here a day before its official showing.

After giving a mesmerising performance in Mumbai, Disney's timeless classic will come to life in the capital on December 19. The show will be held at Thyagaraj Sports Complex here.

Other names to grace the red carpet of the premiere are Riddhima Kapoor, Ramola Bachchan, Priya Sachdev, Sanjay Kapur, Ambika Pillai and US Ambassador Richard Rahul Verma, said a source close to the Broadway production.

Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this classic musical love story will be presented to Indian audiences on the same scale as the mega productions seen on New York's Broadway and in London's West End.

With the musical developed in India, over 100 theatre performers will bring the story alive on stage while retaining the original script and music of the Broadway show.

The musical, directed by Vikranth Pawar, was first unveiled in India in October.
