Google celebrates Mukhesh 93rd birth anniversary with Doodle

New Delhi: Tech giant Google once again read the mind of Indians by honouring the legendary playback singer Mukhesh Chand Mathur with a beautiful doodle on his 93rd birth anniversary.
His talent was first discovered by a distant relative at his sister’s wedding after which he took singing lessons. Mukesh Chand Mathus was born on July 22, 1923 in Delhi.
Some of the popular melodies of the older times were sung by the singer. The”Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye” or “Awaara Hoon” are some of the popular songs sung by Mukesh. ”Dil Hi Bujha Hua Ho To” for Nirdosh was his first song in which he also acted.
He got his break as a playback singer in the film Pehli Nazar which was composed by Anil Biswas. The first song that he sang for a Hindi film was “Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De”.
He was a huge fan of K L Saigal and used to imitate him. Mukesh had lent his voice for many of the legendary actor Raj Kapoor’s ongs.
He has sung a total of around 1,300 songs. In 1974, he won a National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song “Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai”.
He also won four Filmfare Best Male Playback Award, and three Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
He died in United States where he had been to perform in a concert. He had left the concert mid-way following which he passed away the same day. The concert was completed by veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar.
