New Delhi: The Thane police have seized an Audi R8 car from the alleged kingpin of the fake Thane call centre racket, Ahmedabad-based Sagar Thakkar, 23, also known as Shaggy, which he bought for around Rs 2.5 crore from Indian test team captain Virat Kohli.
Thane police commissioner Param Bir Singh, said, “He [Thakkar] bought the Audi R8 car from Virat Kohli but the cricketer is unaware of Thakkar’s activities.”

According to the police, Thakkar bought the car from Kohli on May 7, 2016, and a document related to this was also signed.
The police said Thakkar had gifted the car to his girlfriend for her birthday. The police are yet to record her statement. Thakkar and his sister remain absconding and are said to be hiding in a Gulf country.
A police officer from the Thane crime branch said, “We were initially searching for the car in Ahmedabad. But after questioning Thakkar’s close aide, we found it was in Delhi. The car was seized from the capital and was brought to the Thane commissionerate on Friday.”
