2nd India- Cambodia Foreign Office Consultations held, trade,def, helath & pharma focused

New Delhi: The 2nd India-Cambodia Foreign Office Consultations was held in New Delhi. The Indian delegation was led by Smt. Vijay Thakur Singh, Secretary (East) and the Cambodian delegation was Ms. Eat Sophea, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The consultations provided an opportunity to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and multilateral issues.
Both sides expressed satisfaction about the regular high political level exchanges. The two sides agreed to cooperate in areas of trade and investment, dèfence, health & pharmaceutical sector, capacity building and training; and conservation and restoration of UNESCO heritage sites in Cambodia, MEA release said.
India is offering 200 ITEC training slots to Cambodia in 2019-20 and also organising customised training programme. India also imparts training in demining and peacekeeping to Cambodian officials. On the request of Cambodia, India is also providing assistance for study of ground water resources and installation of hand pumps for drinking water.
Cambodia is an important partner of India under the framework of Act East Policy and in the Indo-Pacific region. Both sides work closely in regional and multilateral fora including ASEAN, Mekong Ganga Cooperation and UN.
