Dilip Kumar Death: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar Mumbai: Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar passed away on Wednesday. The 98-year-old actor was admitted in suburban Khar-based Hinduja Hospital since June 30 due to age-related health issues for the last few days.

The sad news of Dilip Kumar's Death was confirmed by his family friend Faisal Farooqui on the legendary actor's offcial twitter handle. Dr Faisal tweeted: With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. - Faisal Farooqui  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the passing away of veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar saying, "He will be remembered as a cinematic legend." 

Taking to his official Twitter account on Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister said, "Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers. RIP."

Dilip Kumar's wife, actress Saira Banu Khan had issued a statement late on Monday updating about his health. The statement issued on Dilip Kumar's Twitter account, reads: "We are grateful for God's infinite mercy on Dilip Sahib that his health is improving. We are still in hospital and request your prayers and duas so that Insha'Allah he is healthy and discharged soon. Saira Banu Khan."

Several fans and the members of Bollywood film fraternity including Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee and others offered their condolences on social media.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief on veteran actor Dilip Kumar's demise. "His demise is monumental loss to the Indian cinema," the union minister said in a tweet. 

"Shri Dilip Kumar ji was an outstanding actor, a true thespian who was well regarded by everyone for his exemplary contribution to the Indian film industry. His performances in films like Ganga Jamuna touched a chord in millions of cinegoers. I’m Deeply anguished by his demise. I had met Dilip Kumar ji in person when I went to Mumbai to present the Padma Vibhushan to him. It was a special moment for me to interact with the legendary actor. His demise is monumental loss to the Indian cinema. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and fans."
