Kota:
A new Passport Office (PO) is now functioning at Kota, Rajasthan. It was inaugurated on 29 September 2023 by Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, V. Muraleedharan in the presence of other dignitaries. This is 37th Passport Office in India and 2nd Passport Office in Rajasthan.

Passport applicants from twelve (12) districts of Southern and Eastern Rajasthan will be facilitated at PO Kota. It will have, under its jurisdiction, Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), Udaipur and 8 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) in Kota, Bhilwara, Jhalawar, Kankroli, Chittorgarh, Sawai Madhopur, Pratapgarh and Banswara.

Initially, 145 appointments per day would be released which will be increased gradually on demand. Passport Office, Kota will also process applications under Tatkaal category apart from other passport related services.

Passport Office, Kota is integrated with Passport Seva Project (PSP) - a high impact citizen-centric e-governance initiative as part of the National e-Governance Plan.

Ministry of External Affairs has taken a big leap in Passport issuance by focusing on faster services delivery, transparency, accessibility, citizen-friendliness and convenience and is now driven to fulfil Prime Minister’s vision of "Ease of Living”. It was under the guidance of the then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj (2014) and the active initiative of Dr Dnyaneshwar Mulay, IFS, also known as the Passport Man of India, that a passport office practically reached every citizen of the country by opening a PSK in the remotest of areas for the convenience of peopel living in far flung areas.  Under Dr. Mulay’s leadership, 410 new passport offices were opened in the country as part of taking passport office to every Lok Sabha constituency. From a mere 77 passport centres in the country, the number in 2019 stood at 510.
