Videsh Sampark Programme with the State of Uttarakhand

New Delhi: Ministry of External Affairs organized a Videsh Sampark Programme with the State of Uttarakhand as part of its outreach activity with the States of India to promote cooperative federalism. Secretary (CPV & OIA), MEA, Arun Kumar Chatterjee co-chaired the Videsh Sampark Programme with Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Ms. Radha Raturi at Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Other senior officials from MEA and the State Government of Uttarakhand, Representatives of Business Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Recruiting Agencies from the State also participated in it.

The Videsh Sampark Programme witnessed in depth dialogue amongst stakeholders on Ministry’s programmes, schemes and initiatives pertaining to Consular, Passport and Diaspora issues as also those for promoting Safe and Legal Migration and Mobility and for upholding Indian Workers’ Welfare overseas.

Ministry also made a presentation on how Uttarakhand, with its rich cultural heritage, strategic location, and natural beauty could leverage its unique strengths to promote international tourism and investments within its territory.

The various interactive sessions during the event also provided the opportunity to both the Ministry and the State of Uttarakhand to discuss on how both could forge enhanced coordination to address all the above issues, streamline procedures and share best practices.

It may be noted that the Videsh Sampark Programme was launched by the Ministry of External Affairs in 2017. Since then, it has been organised with Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Punjab, Tripura and Bihar. Ministry plans to continue with this initiative with other Indian States in the future.
