BRICS Literature Forum 2024 continued for two days in Kazan

New Delhi: BRICS Literature Forum 2024 continued for two days in Kazan, Russia, on Thursday, 12 September 2024 and Friday, 13 September 2024. In the second day’s events, there was literary forum featuring two Indian participants, Sri Madhav Kaushik, President of Sahitya Akademi and Dr K. Sreenivasarao, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi. In the Forum, a presentation of a Hindi poetry book by Sri Madhav Kaushik was presented along with its Russian translation by Prof Sonu Saini who joined the Forum online from India. The Forum, moderated by Dr K. Sreenivasarao and Anastasia Strokina. In the second programme, Roundtable on “Who is Responsible for translation?”, a number of eminent scholars shared their views. On 13th September 2024, there were two events featuring Indian participants. In the first event of the day, “Future of the Literary BRICS,” Dr K. Sreenivasarao presented various dimensions of unifying nature of literature and how it is essential to keep the literary conferences of BRICS nations to strengthen cultural cooperation across the globe. Dr Sreenivasarao expressed the hope that increased translations among the languages of BRICS countries since enhanced awareness resulting from those translations would ensure meaningful dialogues and purposeful cultural exchanges. In the last event of the day, “Discussion on Book Fairs in the Internet Era,” Dr K. Sreenivasarao presented a number of benefits of book fairs in the digital era for everyone, for the readers, for the writers, for the publishers and cited examples of various book fairs in India and also some important International Book Fairs such as New Delhi International Book Fair, Frankfurt International Book Fair, Sharjah International Book Fair and Guadalajara International Book Fair. The discussants appreciated all the feedback received as only such open sharing of thoughts can lead to the overall improvement of literary community in all the countries. In the concluding session all the participants hoped for more cultural exchanges among BRICS countries.
