Sahitya Akademi organizes Hindi Poets Meet at Kumbh
Prayagraj: Sahitya Akademi organized a Hindi Poets' Meet at Kalagram Manch, Sector-7, Prayagraj in Maha Kumbh today. The Meet was chaired by eminent poet and lyricist Buddhinath Mishra. Other participating poets were Yash Malviya, Preeta Vajpayee, Rachna Saxena and Vandana Shukla. Welcoming everyone at the beginning of the Meet, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi K. Sreenivasarao said that the holy Saraswati in Sangam is now extinct as a river, but the knowledge given by her is still flowing uninterrupted from the pens of our creators. Saraswati is still alive and flowing. The biggest proof of this is our respected poets seated on this stage. In the Rigveda, the 'poet' has been called a 'rishi'. Therefore, on behalf of  Sahitya Akademi, I am feeling very happy to welcome and congratulate all these 'Saraswati Putras'.

In his presidential address, Buddhinath Mishra, while describing the features of the four Kumbhs as well as the twelve Kumbhs, said that all these public gatherings underline the upliftment of our social and cultural concerns along with our religious faith. He described this Poets' Meet organized by  Sahitya Akademi on such a historic occasion as very meaningful and useful. He further said that  Sahitya Akademi is doing exemplary work to ensure its participation in every important social and cultural event organized anywhere in the country. He presented many songs centered on the Ganga. Famous lyricist Yash Malviya presented a song titled, Ganga Maa Man Hi Man Bol Rahi Hain... and many other couplets. One song was also about Maha Kumbh and the Lord Ram. Vandana Shukla presented a song dedicated to Prayagraj and also recited several ghazals including Jai Pushkar Bhoomi. Rachna Saxena read praises of Goddess Sharada as well as compositions dedicated to Kumbh Mela and the Lord Rama. Preeta Vajpayee presented songs and ghazals on Kumbh.

Many important local writers and poets including Vijayanand and Ajay Malviya were also present in the gathering.
