New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced cancelling the board examinations scheduled for February 24 in Prayagraj due to the ongoing Maha Kumbh.
The exam, which was scheduled for February 24, will now take place on March 9 after the conclusion of the Mahakumbh, a directive of the UP government said. The decision to cancel the exam was made in view of the huge crowd expected on February 26 for Mahashivratri Snan in Prayagraj.
The Maha Kumbh started on January 13 and will come to an end on February 26, on Maha Shivratri. Over 50 crore people have taken a holy dip in Triveni Sangam so far, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
The board exams will continue as per the schedule in the remaining 74 districts of Uttar Pradesh. On February 24, the first exam was for High School Preliminary Hindi and Hindi, while in the second shift the exam was scheduled for healthcare subject.
Meanwhile, for the Intermediate students, the first shift was for military science, and in the second shift, the exams were scheduled for Hindi and General Hindi papers.
The Joint Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Department, Ashok Kumar, issued official orders regarding the rescheduling of examinations.
